During round one of surfing at the Rip Curl Pro Sally Fitzgibbon’s of Australia received a bad laceration to the top of her foot by her board.  Receiving help from a Jetski, she was quickly brought to shore. A grimacing Sally holding her left foot was quickly put on a stretcher and carried off the beach with concerned on lookers wondering if she will return to compete.

Round two took place at Winkipop/Bells Beach this past Saturday, where Sally returned to competition wearing a booty on her left foot.  The injury and booty appeared to not affect her surfing as she surfed away with a Round Two victory over Hawaii’s rising star Tatiana Weston-Webb.

Sally will advance to the Quarter finals where she will face Lakey Peterson of the USA.
