Visiting Rip Curl Pro

Visiting the RIP CURL PRO

This years Rip Curl Pro did not disappoint with big local and international names competing at      Bells Beach in Torquay Victoria, Australia.  Like you would expect with one of the biggest surfing competitions in the world it was filled with lots of action and entertainment in the water and out.

The announcement of Mick Fanning’s last competition created a universal element to this year’s event.  It was more than just the surfing, it brought local fans, international fans, surfers and people who weren’t avid surfers together.  All to share in the common interest to say farewell and cheer on surf legend Mick Fanning.

If you wanted a change of scenery from the beach, the Rip Curl Pro offered a multitude of options away from the beachside.  The surf village live streamed the surf on a big screen, so you did not have to be on the beach and get sandy.  Along side with a Corona Bar this year had a vast array of food trucks to cater to anyone’s tastes, it was easy to make a great day of it with family or friends, without even getting your toes wet.

The great thing about Rip Curl Pro is that you can be enjoying the week with friends and have a dozen chances to meet the surfers, say hi, get an autograph or take a selfie with them.  This is what really separates surfing from other Pro events.  There are not a lot of sporting events where you can interact with the Professionals and really make it your own experience.

If you were not able to make it to Rip Curl Pro this year, there is sure to be plenty of action and entertainment next year.  Even if the swell is small, this family friendly event offers plenty to do and is worth the drive from out of town.
